CONSIDERING SOLAR PANELS

Considering solar panels, then there are many things to factor in. As well as the purchase price, you will have to consider these other purchases.

It is now known that unless you purchase battery storage as well as the solar panels, you will get very little savings or next to nothing back from your solar panels. Not only that you will also have to consider these other extra costs. Solar panels need to be cleaned at least once a year, you don’t want to get up on your roof, so add the cost of a professional cleaner.

ONE MAJOR FACTOR YOU MAY HAVE TO CONSIDER IS BIRD PROOFING

What is that you say? Bird proofing yes, that’s right, bird proofing.

Birds love to nest under solar panels. Solar panels are slightly elevated above the roof allowing enough room for birds to roost and build their nests. In certain circumstances, it is such that there is that much built up rubbish such as grass, twigs, string etc that the solar panels have to be lifted in order to remove this rubbish which causes water dams leading to excessive leaking in tiled roofs.

This also makes for a desirable area for rats and possums to nest.

SO, ADD THE COST OF BIRD PROOFING WHEN CONSIDERING SOLAR PANELS

There are many companies that have set up to professionally birdproof solar panels, this can be quite an expensive extra when considering solar panels, depending on how many you have installed.

  • So remember the extras you will need to have when considering solar panels
  • Battery storage
  • Cleaning of solar panels
  • Not forgetting the extremely expensive extra for bird proofing, especially if the panels need to be removed for access.

After all that, you will probably have to replace the panels after 20 years and start all over again, your money is best spent on a roof ventilation system without any extra costs after purchase price.
